Mannone wows Beverley Branch
On loan goalkeeper Vito Mannone was the guest at the Beverley OSC branch meeting on Monday night at Hodgson’s pub.
The keeper took part in a very confident Q&A session in front of over 90 OSC members in which he talked about many subjects ranging from him developing a love for football at age 4 to his current spell with city. Vito spoke candidly about his injury problem last season stating it was a low for him as it came at a time when he was finally getting a chance to play after a lack of first team action prior to his move to Hull.
One member asked about the chances of him potentially signing for Hull permanently and although there was no firm answer he did admit he would seriously consider it if such chance arose. When probed about his decision to become a goalkeeper he stated it was a decision he made aged 5 after his first ever match and he said ‘it just felt natural to me’. He stated that he grew up as and is still a huge fan of AC Milan but despite that his heroes growing up were Parma’s Gianluigi Buffon and Juventus keeper Angelo Peruzzi; they were key influences on him developing his style of play.
After a good 45 minutes of life stories in which Vito spoke at length and with passion about how much is family and especially his late father meant to him he took the time to sign autographs and pose for photos for another half an hour. The fans were clearly impressed with Vito as OSC member Peter Johnson stated ‘His sincerity and honesty were refreshing and he spoke from the heart with real emotion, I could see he is a genuine fella. He has definitely enhanced his popularity and made new friends who will be keen to see him make further progress at the KC. Sign him up Nick he’s a top keeper and top guy’
After the raffle and ever impossible quiz (hosted by quiz master Simon Bromwich) proceedings were ended with everybody leaving having a very enjoyable evening.

Tremendous article Dan and very good photos Dave.
Together they really capture the feel and spirit of the evening. In my time as a member of the Beverley OSC branch committee this is probably the best event I have witnessed in Beverley. A very healthy number attended, the sound system was such that people could hear Vito clearly, plus the stage at Hodgsons allowed for most attendees to see him as he spoke. Plus of course, Vito was polite and accommodating in signing numerous autographs and striking a pose for countless photos for a long queue of those who wanted a pic with him.
A fantastic evening, Vito spoke very well and I enjoyed listening to everything he had to say. He came across as a really genuine guy, it was a pleasure to welcome him back to Hull City. This was the first Beverley OSC event I had attended and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Well done to all concerned, and thanks to Vito.
Vito was a fantasic speaker and gave some great personal answers. Great night all in all. Hope he stays at Hull.
(The quizes won’t get any easier Dan (cheers))!
Am I the only comment? Come on you people, some feedback would be really useful
Great to see Vito at Hodgsons. My first player OSC meeting.

Many thanks to Simon and Ethan. It wasn’t that difficult was it?
And special thanks to Charlotte and Robyn who I asked to give us feedback. I hope they will give us more comments for future events at Beverley, and elsewhere.
I hope we can again use Facebook and Twitter in the future, not just to advertise these events but for a range of activities. I am not sure if we are up to a Cottingham style Twitter feed, but one day maybe!!
Judith, Patrick…..next time?
The Comment box and website box seem to be swopped over but I hope this will appear
